Stand-alone SharePoint and OneDrive End of Sale
26-03-2026 11:23Microsoft has announced that it will no longer sell the stand-alone SharePoint Online Plan 1 and Plan 2 and OneDrive for Business Plan 1 and Plan 2 User Subscription Licenses (USLs). The primary reason for this decision is that most customers are already licensed through suites such as Microsoft 365 Enterprise or Microsoft 365 Business, which include both SharePoint Online and OneDrive. Maintaining the stand-alone plans is therefore no longer economically viable. Timeline The announcement was made in January. Starting June 2026, new subscriptions for the stand-alone plans will no longer be available; however, existing customers will still be able to renew their subscriptions. From January 2027, renewals will no longer be possible, but customers may continue to use the services under their existing licenses. A full retirement of these licenses is scheduled for December 2029. The timeline is visualized in the graph below.
