Microsoft discontinues Power BI Premium Capacity – migrate to Microsoft Fabric
05-04-2024 11:40Microsoft Power BI (Business Intelligence) has multiple offerings. Free Desktop for local use, Power BI Pro and Premium per user and a Power BI Premium Capacity Plan. The last offering is targeted at large organization who need large scale BI capabilities and capacity. It always was, and is, not a cheap option, starting at US$ 4,995 per month and all contributors need Power BI Pro licenses as well (US$ 10 user/month). Mid 2023, Microsoft introduced Microsoft Fabric, which is a combination of extended and premium BI features, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory, all located in Azure. Following that, March 2024 Microsoft announced to discontinue the Microsoft Power BI Premium Capacity plans and customers have to migrate to Microsoft Fabric over time (login or subscribe to see the scenario's)).
